Steel sculpture

Proposal for a sculpture on the North Sea shoreline,
accessible as a play-element on the threshold between land and sea.

Proposed to the curator of Beaufort in 2009, not realised
Proposed duration: 3 months
Location: beach, Ostend
Dimensions: 24 x 18 x 12m
Material: steel

This sculpture is the result of on-going research that was initiated in 1985.
The starting point was a small Lego aeroplane, one that has since been remodelled many times.
The process and evolution of the changes in the design are the consequence of working with different materials or interfaces.
The proposed sculpture in steel is thus in a temporary ‘life stage’.
I am continuing my research into this project by working on new proposals for other contexts.
These involve different materials and alternative scales.
